You can plainly see how poorly our homes are built, this is an appalling amount of heat loss because

 of inadequate home design. The first two pictures are from a million dollar home with a heat vent inside

 below the window.  There is not adequate insulation causing the exterior brick wall to be heated by the furnace.

We must start insulating our foundations properly, not an R-10 but at least an R-40 that is waterproofed.

Also I have found that adding exterior storm windows or window film seems to be the best way to create the most

energy efficient window system. We insulate foundations and can solve your window thermal problems.
